Singer-Songwriter Taylor Swift is not only a 11 time grammy winner, women of the decade, artistof the decade ,3 times AOTY winner ,Brits global icon and a Cat lover but also a huge inspirations to people worldwide, especially to aspiring singers and songwriters


She also enjoys reading just as much you and I do and has used various literary references throughout her discography.

Eat, Pray, Love is a story that tells the story of a women who starts to discover herself as she travels around the world. The book has sold over 10 million copies worldwide and was made into a film in 2010.






 




2.Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White



This popular children’s book was one of Taylor’s pick for ‘’You are what you read’’. The book tells of the story of the friendship between a farm pig named Wilbur and a spider named Charlotte.






 


3.Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier



Rebecca is a 1938 gothic crime Novel which inspired one of Taylor to write one of her best songs:- ‘Tolerate it’ for her latest album ,Evermore.








 



4.The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald



Taylor is a great fan of Fitzgerald and has referenced various works of his is many of her lyrics. The Great Gatsby is a short novel that tells us the story of Jay Gatsby, a self made millionare.






 



5.The Beautiful and the Damned by F. Scott Fitzgerald



'The Beautiful and the Damned' is a novel set in New York during the 1910’s and tells the story of Anthony Patch, his wife Gloria Gilbert and the couples troubling experience with money and status.






 




Stargirl is the story of a 15 year old girl who gets shunned for everything that makes her different. Taylor said she loved how this book teaches people to be their authentic selves instead of conforming to social norms trying to fit inside the box.

In 2020, the book was adapted into a movie, starring Grace Vanderwaal.




 


7.The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins



Taylor read this before starting to write songs for its movie adaptation. She said she loved it soo much that she finished it in like 2 days.









 




Taylor once tweeted John Green was one of her favorite writers. This popular novel tells the story of two teenagers, trying to live life to the fullest, after being diagnosed with cancer.







 




Taylor recommended this book in of her magazine interviews. “Conversations with Friends” is an intelligent novel about two collage friends and an unexpected connection they form with a married couple.







 



Jane Eyre has been referenced in a few songs on Taylor’s 9th album- Folklore.

The book follows the story of Jane, a plain English girl as she battles through the struggles of life and her journey from childhood to womanhood.
