The Secret Garden:Review

Mary Lennox is a ten year old English girl growing up in British India. She is spoilt , plain looking and an arrogant child. Her parents are killed in a deadly epidemic and she is sent home to England to live with her uncle,Mr Craven in Misselthwaithe Manor.

After a few days at her uncle’s house, she hears a story from Martha, a maid, about a secret garden which has been locked for 10 years. She gets curious and sets to find door to the secret garden.

The novel is very descriptive .The transformation of the children towards the end of the book is really fascinating.

The story is interesting to read and kids of 9 - 10 years of age would find it really enjoyable. It has almost everything that is needed to fuel a child’s imagination from a couple of spoilt children to a secret garden.

The book is a true gem which shows us the power of beautiful positive thought and how easy and awful it is to be negative and dull.It is not written in a complex language and it has the capacity to transport to a very beautiful place.
